Over-the-Air Firmware Updates

Pioneer delivers its first feature-driven “over the air” software update for newer NEX radios with 9 or 10.1-inch screens. Over-the-Air updates will provide your Pioneer in-dash receiver with the latest up to date firmware and feature updates using the CarAVAssist app. Enjoy the convenience of wireless updates while eliminating the hassle of transferring data files through a USB thumb drive. The CarAVAsssist app is free to download for both iPhone and Android devices.

Apple CarPlay® split-screen support

If you’ve ever wanted to control two apps simultaneously when using Apple CarPlay®, get excited for Pioneer’s first feature-driven “over the air” software update, highlighting split-screen mode for select NEX in-dash receivers. *

Apple CarPlay® can do a lot more than just deliver driving directions. Split-screen mode enables you to simultaneously display and control both the Apple CarPlay® UI and the receiver’s menu for your secondary source at the same time, on one screen. This function is useful when you want to access your music content (i.e., HD Radio or USB) while navigating through Apple CarPlay®, without having to toggle back and forth.

Pioneer’s intuitive split-screen mode also allows different configurations you can switch between by tapping the switch key icon. Display your current or last app in full screen, view several apps in split-screen mode, customizable widget sizes for easy viewing, or view the home screen with access to all your apps.

Split-screen mode allows seamless operation for various function on the same screen to personalize features and customize menu settings. The NEX in-dash receiver when interfaced with a Metra Axxess or iDataLink Maestro RR/RR2 module (sold separately) offers smart vehicle integration solutions to retain and control settings that would otherwise be lost after replacing the factory head unit, including HVAC functions, audio controls on the steering wheel, gauges, heated/cooled seats, visual parking assistance, and more, without fully exiting the Apple CarPlay® UI.

Modular Solutions

Pioneer’s Modular Solutions receivers are designed for applications, often newer vehicles, with limited depth behind the dash that prohibits the installation of a traditional 1DIN or 2DIN receiver. This installation flexibility is achieved by physically separating the LCD touchscreen display from the sub-chassis that contains the CPU, control system, terrestrial radio tuner, amplifier and input/output connections. This allows the sub-chassis to be mounted in a different location* or different horizontal/vertical orientation within the vehicle. To simplify installation and increase vehicle applications, Pioneer and Metra Electronics are partnering to develop vehicle-specific Radio Install Kits** that make the Pioneer Modular Solutions receivers both cosmetically integrated and simple to install.

Back Up Camera Input Ready*

Back Up Camera input enables you to add a rear-view camera, with the system automatically switching to a full-screen image of the rear view when the car is placed in reverse gear. The full-screen image returns to the source screen last in use when the vehicle is taken out of reverse gear.

*Rear visibility systems (backup cameras) are required under federal regulations in certain new vehicles according to a phase-in schedule that began on May 1, 2016. Owners of vehicles equipped with compliant rear visibility systems should not install or use this product in a way that alters or disables that system’s compliance with applicable regulations. Second Camera Input

The DMH-WC6600NEX has an additional input where you can add a second camera. The second camera view can be activated at any time and has many potential uses including monitoring a tow vehicle, providing a side view for better lane visibility. Downloading the latest firmware allows the camera to show inverse perspective mapping for additional installation flexibility. This feature comes in handy when positioning a second camera on another area of the vehicle for a mirror imaging perspective from left to right.

Hands-Free Calling and Audio Streaming

Stay safe and obey local hands-free laws with built-in Bluetooth (HFP). Easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DMH-WC6600NEX without having to go through complicated settings. When a registered Bluetooth device is in proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically pairs the two units.

From hands-free calling, wireless audio streaming (A2DP) with artist, album, and song search*, simple pairing, and control audio (AVRCP profile), Bluetooth® wireless technology has made life in the vehicle much more convenient.

The DMH-WC6600NEX with Bluetooth also includes superior call quality reception using Wideband Speech Handsfree Profile 1.6. Wideband Speech nearly doubles the bandwidth of frequencies of a normal Bluetooth call (when compared to calls without Wideband Speech)**.

Other features include the ability to browse music libraries on smartphones wirelessly.

Hi-Res Audio File Playback via USB

Enjoy High-Resolution Audio music playback just as the musicians intended with higher than CD quality. With the Pioneer NEX DMH-WC6600NEX you can play up to 5.6 MHz DSD (Direct Stream Digital) files, and up to 192 kHz/24-bit WAV and FLAC files from an MSC formatted USB device.
